Classic Harmony

Classic Harmony is an internationally award-winning and acclaimed vocal ensemble from Co.Wicklow in Ireland. The members are all from one family and include father, Frank and four young adult children, Rebecca, Orlaith, Emily and John. Four members are now Graduates n Music from TCD, NUIM (two members) and UL and the fifth is currently studying for his Degree in Jazz Performance and Composition at DCU. Four out of five members of the group are vision-impaired, including father, Frank, who is musical director of five choirs in Wicklow and a choir for blind and vision-impaired people in Dublin. The group sings in close harmony, a cappella and with instrumental accompaniment on Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Harp and Tin Whistle.

Classic Harmony have won many competitions including the Family Ensemble category at the Feis Ceoil in Dublin, three years in a row, 2nd prize in the Small Group category at the Derry International Choral Festival in 2016 and 2017 and 1st prize in the Small Group category at the Mayo International Choral Festival in 2018. The young people were also finalists in The Soloist competition run by The Cross-Border Orchestra in 2018 and 2019. In July 2019 the vocal group won six gold and two silver medals at the WCOPA (World Championships of Performing Arts) in Los Angeles. USA, and in November 2019, the four vision-impaired members won 1st Prize representing Ireland at the Lions World Song Festival for the Blind/Vision Impaired in Krakow, Poland.

In performance, Classic Harmony has appeared on television on RTE, TV3 and TG4 and on national and local radio. They have performed in concerts at local venues in Wicklow, at the National Concert Hall, Dublin and at venues around the country including, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Armagh and St. Columba’s Long Tower in Derry and at City Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and St. Ann’s Church in Dublin, as part of the Dublin International Choral Festivals in 2018 and 2019.

Classic Harmony has performed to small audiences of around 120 in the Whale Theatre in Greystones on two occasions in 2018 and the Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray in June 2019, and to large audiences at venues including the National Concert Hall, St. Patrick’s Cathedrals in Dublin and Armagh and major venues in Los Angeles and Krakow, where the ensemble wowed audiences of over 1000. They have also performed at corporate functions such as Dublin City Council’s launch of the Dublin International Choral Festival, the launch of the Mayo International Choral Festival and the Awards Ceremony at the World Blind Golf Championships in Portmarnock Golf Club.

The ensemble covers music in a wide range of genres from Classical to Traditional/Celtic and Popular/Jazz styles; and Christmas music from ancient to modern. Classic Harmony provides vocal and instrumental music for church services at Weddings and Funerals as well as Pre- and Post-Dinner Entertainment at all Family Occasions and Business Functions.

The beauty and blend of our sound has been well-commented on and stems from our family relationship. We have been likened to the Von Trapp family many times! Our hallmarks are friendliness, communication, versatility and professionalism and the ability to tailor our performances exactly to our client’s requirements.

We also provide solo and group-harmony singing and a range of instrumental options featuring Piano, Organ, Guitar and Harp and also including traditional instruments which can be mixed and matched to create just the right atmosphere for your special occasion.

We cover a range of styles of music from Classical to Traditional to Popular and Christmas music. We can theme our music to suit the theme of your occasion whether it is a Rock ‘n’ Roll or a Flapper or a Swingin’ 40's theme or an 80’s night! We also have Champion Irish Dancers who can provide that extra dimension of entertainment for Irish audiences and tourists alike.
