John Kelly - Performance
Piano
John, like his father Frank, has always been an avid piano player. He has studied Classical Piano since an early age, completing exams up to grade VIII, and is currently studyingJazz Piano in DCU with tutors including Izumi Kimura and Greg Felton. John enjoys playing everything from Chopin and Bach, to Duke Ellington.
Singing
John has been singing since the early age of 6 both solo and as part of the vocal ensemble Classic Harmony. John has studied singing classically with various teachers, as well as at the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and has won many competitions such as the Feis Ceoil since he was a boy soprano.
John has also performed in Musical Theatre shows since an early age, taking on lead roles in shows such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland, Flapper, and in 2018 took to the Bord Gais Theatre in Dublin for a performance of Tosca.
Tin Whistle
Since he started school, John has been learning and playing traditional Tin Whistle. In 2010, while at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, John and his whistle went through to the finals of this international competition and came in at 2nd place in the category. John plays traditional dance tunes, as well as entrancing slow airs on the low whistle. He and his sister often play Whistle and Harp as a duo.
